My confidence in their ability is absolute and it gives me great pride to see and hear the traditions of Marshall improved through progress, whilst retaining the classic tonal authority that is the Marshall hallmark.

They have had a free hand in making this pre-amp sound quite simply the best. My design team is made up of guitar players who fully understand the needs and realities of guitar performance. We have always worked very closely with guitarists from many different fields and their valuable input has been an essential ingredient in the creation of the JMP-1. I have a number of nice amps, and have found the JMP1 to be a great compliment to them.I would like to thank you personally for selecting the JMP-1 MIDI Pre-amp.Īs our first venture into MIDI controlled guitar equipment, many hours of development have been spent ensuring that it fulfils the functions that you really need to cope with todays widely varied playing environments. If a cleaner tone was the goal, swapping in a 12AU7 or two into the power section will get you there. Among other things, that means you can swap out different power tubes, and this has a profound effect on the gain of the amp. The power amp section is unusal on the JMP1 in that it is parallel single ended. I usually back off the volume to noon and like it best with a LP. It adds another tube gain stage, and delivers a "hot rodded JMP" sound. I've found that pedals into the JMP1 is pretty much just like plugging into the 2061x, though it does have a bit more gain.

Given that both at old style amps, I also use old style pedals with it - Ge boost, Ge Fuzz, Wah, Vibe, etc. With the JMP1 I was trying to get a similar sound/behavior at low levels that I get with my 2061x at stage volume. With those settings, pedals work great in my experience. This would be dimed with single coils or 7-8 on an LP. As with my other (bigger) Marshalls, I mostly play it with the edge of dirt sound that many associate with NMV Marshalls. I have to admit I don't play it much set on clean - that's not what I bought it for. I'm not sure if I agree with marty's assessment of the JMP1.
